Erin Refugee Action – Ride for Refuge Fundraiser - October 5, 2019
Erin Refugee Action has sponsored and supported two Syrian families to come to Canada. Both families lived in Erin for a few months and now live in Kitchener and Georgetown. They are doing well and very happy to be safe in Canada. Souzanne, the mum of the family who came last March, said that arriving that day at Pearson Airport was one of the happiest moments of her life.
On October 5, several of us will be biking in the 10K Ride for Refuge in Brampton. The goal is to fundraise for our next family, a grandma and granddad, their daughter, son-in-law and little grandson who all fled the war from their home country, Afghanistan, several years ago and have been living in Turkey ever since. Our goal is to raise $2500 on the Ride for Refuge.
We are inviting members of Transition Erin to join us on the ride as one of our fall activities. This would be a fun way to regroup and kick off the new season. If you are not able to ride, a donation towards helping this new family come to Canada would be most appreciated. Any amount helps – it all adds up! (Donations of $20 or more get a receipt for income tax purposes.) Thank you.

There is a fundraising minimum ($75 for 11-17 year-olds, $150 for 18 year-olds and up) or there is a registration fee of $25, which increases to $40 as of September 30, so register now! In order to help our participants avoid having to pay the registration fee, please sponsor an individual rider rather than the team itself. Recipient of the funds is the Anglican Diocese of Niagara, which tracks our team donations, and redirects the funds back to Erin Refugee Action.
